Reporting and final assessment categories – Final assessment categories – BI-RADS 2

  

BI-RADS 2 includes mammography (and ultrasound) findings that are definitely benign. Lesions in this category may not be assessed further as they have classical benign morphological features that are likely to remain stable. This category includes:
This category includes:
  • involuting fibroadenoma ;
  • intramammary node ;
  • simple cyst ;
  • abscess ;
  • trauma ;
  • skin calcification ;
  • diffuse bilateral, typically benign breast calcifications ; and
  • fat-containing lesions, such as lipoma , galactocele , hamartoma , or oil cyst .
