The IARC Screening Group has developed a series of four online teaching aids to complement our manuals on colposcopy and treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and visual screening for cervical neoplasia. These materials are intended to help reorient practising colposcopists and pathologists and to train doctors and nurses in colposcopy and prevention of cervical cancer, particularly in developing countries.
The teaching aids include images obtained from various ongoing and completed IARC cervical cancer prevention projects around the world, and have been extensively reviewed by project staff and quality-control experts. The materials are distributed to all Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention (ACCP) project sites; to medical schools, training centres, and cervical cancer screening programmes; and to any interested practitioners and students. This initiative contributes to improving the standards of cervical cancer screening and to facilitating quality control in cancer detection and prevention, particularly in developing countries.
