Breast pathology – Histopathology of the breast – Description and significance of the components of the report – Tumour size | |
- The single greatest dimension of the largest invasive carcinoma is used to determine tumour size (pT). If multiple carcinomas are present, only the size of the largest invasive carcinoma is used.
- Size is best measured using information from imaging, gross examination, and microscopic evaluation.
- Size should be measured to the nearest millimetre. Adjacent DCIS outside the invasive carcinoma is not included in the size measurement.
