Breast imaging – Breast ultrasound – Limitations | ![](BreastPici/1439319355_MB__next.png) |
- Ultrasound does not replace mammography as a screening tool.
- Breast calcifications that may be diagnostic of DCIS are not visible on ultrasound.
- The sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound are operator-dependent. Trained and experienced breast-imaging sonologists are important to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
