Reporting and final assessment categories – Final assessment categories – BI-RADS 0

This category indicates that the imaging is incomplete and further imaging or information (e.g. special mammographic views and/or ultrasound or added imaging) is required. This category may also suggest that the radiologist would like to review earlier images that were not available at the time of reading.

In patients with mammography findings definitely suspicious for malignancy and where the results have to be communicated as early as possible for management, BI-RADS 0 is not used. The assessment and interpretation of the study is completed after obtaining all relevant information.
