  • Before application of acetic acid: The ectocervix is lined with mature squamous epithelium. No abnormal discharge is seen.

  • After application of Lugol’s iodine: The abnormal area with patchy iodine non-uptake appears yellow and is sharply demarcated from the surrounding normal mature squamous epithelium, which appears brown.

  • Histopathology: LSIL-CIN1

  • Remarks: Thin acetowhite areas with angular geographical margins are typical of HPV infections, but they can coexist with low-grade lesions.
