Interpretation of VIA – Positive – Entire cervix appearing dense acetowhite

Entire cervix appearing dense acetowhite:
Dense acetowhitening of the entire cervix is strongly suspicious of high-grade precancer or early invasive cancer.

In the presence of a large lesion that occupies all four quadrants of the cervix, it may be difficult to locate the margins of the lesion. The outer margin may get hidden underneath the speculum blades, and the inner margin may extend into the endocervical canal. The absence of a margin may lead to a false-negative interpretation.
