Age: 34

Before application of acetic acid: The cervix is covered with normal mucoid secretion. A nabothian cyst with pearly white appearance is present at the 10 o’clock position.

Cervix before application of acetic acid:

After application of acetic acid: Thin acetowhite areas with geographical margins and attached to the SCJ are present in the TZ at the 10–2 o’clock position.

After application of Lugol’s iodine: The lesion appears patchy yellow. The margins are sharply delineated because of the colour contrast.

Determined eligibility for ablative treatment:

Histopathology: LSIL-HPV changes

Remarks: Acetowhite areas with geographical margins are commonly due to infection with low-risk HPV types, but they can also be associated with low-grade precancers and should be categorized as VIA-positive.
