After application of Lugol’s iodine: The lesion appears patchy yellow. The margins are sharply delineated because of the colour contrast.

Remarks: Acetowhite areas with geographical margins are commonly due to infection with low-risk HPV types, but they can also be associated with low-grade precancers and should be categorized as VIA-positive.
