Before application of acetic acid: A mucous polyp is seen protruding through the external os. A nabothian cyst is present on the anterior lip (at the 2 o’clock position).

Cervix before application of acetic acid:

After application of acetic acid: The SCJ is fully visible. The polyp has a thin acetowhite area.

Histopathology: Not done

Remarks: Thin acetowhitening on the polyp indicates squamous metaplasia. (Note: Persistent/dense acetowhite areas on polyps should be categorized as VIA-positive.) Ablation is possible without removing the small polyp.
