Before application of acetic acid: The SCJ is fully visible close to the external os. A small nabothian cyst is present at the 1 o’clock position.

After application of acetic acid: The outer limit of the TZ can be well delineated by the position of the nabothian cyst on the anterior lip. A thin acetowhite area with sharp margins and attached to the SCJ is present in the TZ. A small satellite lesion is seen at the 12 o’clock position.

After application of Lugol’s iodine: The lesion is well delineated by the colour contrast between the yellow abnormal epithelium and the brown normal epithelium, which demarcates the area to be treated.

Remarks: The lesion can be treated by either cryotherapy or thermal ablation.
