Before application of acetic acid: The cervix is covered with curdy white discharge of candidiasis.

After application of acetic acid: A dense acetowhite area with sharp raised margins is seen on the anterior lip. The SCJ is not visible.

Histopathology: Squamous cell carcinoma
Remarks: Raised dense acetowhite areas with surface irregularity and contact bleeding indicate the presence of cancer. The lesions are invariably large.
