Before application of acetic acid: The columnar epithelium is visible as a central red patch.

After application of acetic acid: A thin acetowhite area with irregular margins and attached to the SCJ is present at the 12–2 o’clock position.

Histopathology: Normal

Remarks: Sometimes acetowhite areas due to squamous metaplasia are indistinguishable from low-grade lesions. When in doubt, the lesion should be categorized as VIA-positive.
