Before application of acetic acid: The columnar epithelium appears as a red velvety patch on the ectocervix (ectropion). A nabothian cyst is present at the 10 o’clock position.

Remarks: The presence of the nabothian cyst will not hamper ablative treatment. The cryotherapy probe or the thermal ablation probe can be applied over the cyst. The cyst may rupture after treatment. This will not cause any problems.
