Before application of acetic acid: Atrophic cervix of a woman with uterovaginal prolapse. On the posterior lip there is a raw red area with sharp margins (a decubitus ulcer).

Remarks: The sharply defined raw, smooth area on the posterior lip is a decubitus ulcer, which can be seen in women with long-standing uterovaginal prolapse. The woman should be referred to an appropriate centre for treatment of genital prolapse.
