  • Before application of acetic acid: The SCJ is fully visible. A nabothian cyst is present at the 5 o’clock position.

    After application of acetic acid: The outer limit of the transformation zone can be delineated by the location of the nabothian cyst. Diffuse transparent acetowhite areas of squamous metaplasia are seen at the 12 o’clock position. Note the light reflections on the posterior lip.
