Interpretation of VIA – Positive – Leukoplakia becoming acetowhite

Leukoplakia becoming acetowhite:
Leukoplakia located within the TZ and close to the SCJ should be considered as VIA-positive, especially if the leukoplakic patches turn dense white after application of acetic acid. These require further evaluation, because a cervical precancer or cancer may remain hidden underneath these areas.
