Interpretation of VIA – Negative – Acetowhite areas away from the SCJ | |
An acetowhite area away from the SCJ and lying outside the transformation zone should be categorized as VIA-negative. Such lesions are usually thin, have a sharp but angulated or geographical margin, and have satellite lesions. These features are characteristic of flat condylomata or cervical warts caused by infection with low-risk HPV types. They do not progress to high-grade lesions and are considered as VIA-negative.
