The size of the lesion is described by the number of quadrants of the cervix covered by the abnormality (consider the cervix as a circle, and divide the circle into four quadrants by drawing two imaginary lines through the centre and perpendicular to each other).
The size of the lesion can also be noted as the approximate percentage of the whole surface area of the cervix involved (< 25%, 25–50%, 50–75%, > 75%).
