  • Before application of acetic acid: Thick curdy white or cheese-like discharge sticks to the cervix. The cervix is congested.

  • Cervix before application of acetic acid:

    Bleeding on contact
    White patch
    Growth
    Ulcer
    Erosion

    After application of acetic acid: The SCJ is fully visible. No acetowhite area on the squamous epithelium. Blue line: SCJ Green line: Outer limit of TZ

  • Remarks: Thick curdy white discharge of candida infection can stick to the surface of the cervix. Syndromic management of candidiasis is indicated. Application of acetic acid clears the discharge from the cervix.
