  • HPV outcome: HPV positive

  • Before application of acetic acid: Parous cervix. Thin mucoid discharge is seen near the external os. The SCJ is fully visible.

  • Cervix before application of acetic acid:  

  • After application of acetic acid: No acetowhite area in the TZ. Notice the white mucus near the SCJ and the multiple light reflections over both the anterior and posterior lips. Blue line: SCJ on the ectocervix

  • Remarks: The mucus becomes thick and white after application of acetic acid. It may sometimes be confused with an acetowhite area. The mucus can be easily removed with a moist cotton swab.
