Before application of acetic acid: The cervix is covered with normal mucoid discharge.

After application of acetic acid: A large dense acetowhite area with sharp margins is seen occupying all four quadrants of the cervix. A thin acetowhite area occupies the entire posterior lip. The lesion extends into the endocervical canal.
