The Screening Group organized a training course at the Institut National de Santé Publique (INSP), Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health to train the medical providers involved in the Care4Afrique project. Dr Chami Youssef from the Lalla Salma Foundation and Ms Lobna Boulegroun attended this training.

Dr Muwonge was an invited speaker at the conference to present about breast cancer screening opportunities and challenges.

The Screening Group organized this meeting for all principal investigators, programme managers, and key collaborators from the study sites involved in this project, to discuss Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) recommendations, study progress, and recent findings.

Mr Eric Lucas and Ms Cecile Le Duc conducted field visits to study sites in Sikkim, Mizoram, and Delhi to discuss the project’s implementation, progress, and challenges.

Dr Sauvaget attended this conference and worked on a protocol of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Demonstration Project for Algeria.

Drs Gadgil, Cherian, and Kantharia visited the Screening Group to discuss the development of a new atlas on mammography and early detection of breast cancer.

Dr Basu was the keynote speaker at the 4th Conference of the Chinese Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Dr Basu conducted a training course for master’s students in collaboration with the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. He was also involved in revising the national cervical cancer screening protocol.

A study initiated in 2016 by the Screening Group describes the increasing incidence rates of cervical cancer and the low uptake of HPV vaccination among Japanese women. The study, published in the journal Vaccine, reports the effectiveness of HPV vaccine against the development of high-grade cervical lesions and is based on Japanese population-based cancer screening data. Mr Tomatis visited the Screening Group to work on the CanScreen5 project.
