New publication: Eradication of cervical cancer: a public health priority

The Screening Group is delighted to share this editorial published in the French Bulletin Epidemiologique Hebdomadaire. Dr Catherine Sauvaget and Dr Elisabete Weiderpass discussed about the eradication of cervical cancer declared as a public health priority by WHO and the new strategies in place in France to attain this objective.

Postdoctoral Fellowships: Le Bonniec Alice

Alice Le Bonniec, PhD in health and social psychology, has recently joined the screening group at IARC as a postdoctoral fellow. Alice will be involved in the CANelles project. This project aims to develop a social network in breast cancer screening in France to be used as a Shared Decision Making tool for both women at the age of joining the breast cancer screening programme and General Practitioners.

Field visit to Dakar, Sénégal

Dr Farida Selmouni conducted a field visit to Dakar to meet with the collaborators and discuss the progress of the Care4Afrique project: Implementation of a pilot cervical cancer screening programme based on a single-visit approach and improving capacity for breast cancer early diagnosis.

IARC training: REDCap for data collection

Mr Eric Lucas and Ms Sylvaine Barbier organized the first training session to introduce the REDCap framework including the platform and the IARC specific context in order to create, manage and report on data collection projects in clinical/epidemiological settings.

Training course for master trainers on colposcopy and management of cervical precancers, Kolkata, India

The Screening Group organized this training course in collaboration with the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) to train 25 master trainers in colposcopy and management of the screen-positive women. Dr P. Basu, Dr R. Sankaranarayanan, Dr R. Mandal, Dr D. Banerjee and Dr M. Vernekar attended as a faculty members with a mixed of practical and theoretical sessions.

Seminar: Roadmap to eliminate cervical cancer in West Bengala preparing for HPV vaccine introduction, Kolkata, India

Dr Partha Basu and Dr R. Sankaranarayanan participated to a seminar jointly organized by the department of health and family welfare and CNCI: Roadmap to eliminate cervical cancer in West Bengala preparing for HPV vaccine introduction in presence of Dr Ajay Chakrabarty director of health services and Dr Debasis Bhattacharyya direcetor of medical education and Dr Jayanta Chakrabarti director of the CNCI.

IARC training: REDCap for surveys

New publication: Performance of OncoE6TM Cervical Test in detecting cervical precancer lesions in HIV-positive women attending an HIV clinic in Bujumbura, Burundi: a crosssectional study

The Screening Group is delighted to present the findings of this study which aimed to evaluate the clinical performance of the OncoE6TM Cervical test in detecting CIN among HIV-infected women in Bujumbura, Burundi. The current OncoE6 test proved to be a point-of-care test. However, given its poor performance for CIN2+ diagnoses, authors of the publication do not recommend it for primary screening.

Workshop on Early detection of cervical and breast cancer in Kolkata, India

As part of the AICC RCOG Conference in Kolkata, a workshop on early detection of cervical and breast cancer prevention was organized by IARC and International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (IFCPC). Faculty included Dr. R. Sankaranarayanan, Dr Partha Basu, Dr Neerja Bhatla and Dr Theresa Freeman Wong.
