Common anatomical variations  

The anatomical structures in the oral cavity vary in colour, size and texture, and may appear abnormal. Some of the variations in anatomical structures within the oral cavity may be mistaken as pathological and may lead to unnecessary procedures and treatment. The clinicians, therefore, should be aware of the anatomical variations commonly encountered that may be interpreted as pathological lesions.
