Mr Abalo completed a 6-month internship within the Screening Group as part of the second year of his master’s degree in the field of public health. He was involved in the CanScreen5 project.

The Screening Group organized this training course in collaboration with the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata, for gynaecologists from India (Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Sikkim, and Udaipur) and Burundi.

This training course, with 60 medical practitioners from Trivandrum, India was organized in collaboration with the Regional Cancer Cencer (RCC) and the IARC Screening group coordinated by Dr Richard Muwonge, Dr Rajaraman Swaminathan and Dr Devasena Anantharaman. This course introduced epidemiology and medical statistics training programme for oncological clinicians in India.

Drs Partha Basu, Catherine Sauvaget, and Farida Selmouni attended the project kick-off meeting.

Drs Partha Basu and Catherine Sauvaget participated in this symposium organized by the Lalla Salma Foundation for Cancer Prevention and Treatment. Dr Sauvaget gave a presentation on the alternatives to mammography for breast cancer screening.

A meeting was held at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) to plan the next report on the status of the implementation of cancer screening in the European Union, as well as to present the new Cancer Screening in Five Continents (CanScreen5) project.

The Screening Group helped to prepare this special issue of the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (Volume 138, Issue Supplement S1), which describes the state-of-the-art of cervical cancer prevention in low-resource settings. Dr Partha Basu presented updates on the IARC–India HPV vaccine trial at the meeting, which was organized by PATH and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
