Atlas of visual inspection of the cervix with acetic acid for screening, triage, and assessment for treatment / Activity 3Instruments, consumables, and setup required for examination after application of acetic acid – Setup for the procedures | |
Examination after application of acetic acid, either for VIA or to determine eligibility for treatment, is a simple procedure that can be done in any setting with the availability of basic amenities, such as:
- A room with space adequate for examining a client in privacy
- An adequate water supply.
In settings where there is no electricity, an LED lamp (preferably rechargeable) serves as a good alternative light source for examination of the cervix by VIA.
In hard-to-reach areas, a mobile van may be used to reach out to women for screening by VIA.
