Before application of acetic acid: Thin mucoid discharge is seen at the external os.

Histopathology: Not done

Remarks: Diffuse acetowhite areas on the ectocervix are due to squamous metaplasia and are part of the transformation zone. Sometimes thick mucus may give the appearance of an acetowhite patch. It can be easily manipulated with a moist cotton swab.
