New publication: Performance Indicators in Breast Cancer Screening in the European Union: A Comparison Across Countries of Screen Positivity and Detection Rates

13/03/2020
This is the first publication presenting adjusted breast cancer screening positivity and detection rates across Europe using data from the Second EU Screening Report. We documented large variability by country in detection rates at subsequent screening tests, likely due to differences in background risk, awareness of the target populations, and different screening protocols and organization. Periodic reporting of performance indicators permits comparisons and monitoring of the impact of screening programmes in EU-Member States. View the article.

New publication: Peak neutralizing and cross-neutralizing antibody levels to human papillomavirus types 6/16/18/31/33/45/52/58 induced by bivalent and quadrivalent HPV vaccines.

03/03/2020
The Screening Group is delighted to present the findings of this independent comparison of neutralizing and cross-neutralizing antibody levels with the bivalent and quadrivalent HPV vaccines in Finnish and Indian adolescent populations. The correlation of bivalent vaccine-induced HPV45 ab-levels with HPV16/18 ab-levels was stronger than that of corresponding quadrivalent vaccine-induced ab-levels, suggesting a qualitatively different cross-reactive response. These findings on the comparison of the immunogenicity of two HPV vaccine tested in two different populations indicate that further head-to-head studies are warranted. View the article.
